By Angela Liddon, The Globe and Mail If you’re looking for a little boost in confidence, a little confidence boost from your hair and eyebrows, or a little of both, these five tips are for you.1.
Try a new color: This is one of those “do it yourself” things that makes you feel good.
But it can be a challenge to get the right color right for your face and hair.
We all want to look beautiful in our favorite colors, but it can take time to find the right combination of colors that work best for you, and make it easy to do.
“I like to do a mix of browns and yellows because they look like each other, but they also work together,” says Amanda Peevey, founder of the online makeup boutique I Love Love.
“I always do a color-matching application with the shade of brown I’m using.”2.
Get the right product: The perfect color for your hair can vary from person to person, depending on how it was made and what it looks like when it’s dry and bleached.
For example, if you have brown hair and blue eyebrows, a natural tint like a brown or green can work for you because the color reflects light.
For black hair, though, it can look too dark, and a dark shade of gray is often a better option, says Elizabeth Pomerantz, a clinical associate professor at the University of Toronto’s Osgoode Hall Law School.3.
Make sure you get the proper products: Some people will think that it’s impossible to find a product that works for everyone, says Sarah Pomeranz, the founder of beauty company I Love LOVE.
“The key is to find products that will work for everyone,” she says.
“A lot of the time, people don’t realize that products like eyeliner or mascara really work for all hair types.”4.
Don’t forget to wear makeup: You should be wearing a mascara and eye shadow every day.
And you should apply foundation to your eyebrows and cheeks to help them look full.
Take a selfie: The best part of doing a makeup selfie is the chance to show off your beautiful, bold face.
So, get the camera ready, use a lens, and start taking pictures of your face.
